The One with the “Chatty” December 2017 Update

Hello lovely people! It’s been awhile since my last “chatty” blog post. I don’t have any Instagram posts to share this month since I’m mainly focused on just revealing my LookFantastic Advent Calendar (which I’m going to share in more detail in its own post).

I want to talk about my blog for a minute. I haven’t been feeling motivated to write posts. Usually I love writing and it’s fun for me but it’s just not feeling fun for me lately. I don’t want to force posts to happen when I’m not feeling it. This isn’t an “I won’t be blogging for awhile” post. Not at all! I will still be posting but when I’m feeling it.

As much as I would looooove to be able to maintain a 3 or 4 times a week post schedule, for me, it’s just not plausible. And my blog does do a lot better when I update frequently, I know that! But it’s just not who I am as a person. I don’t do well with deadlines. I’m very prone to stress. So I just don’t want to force anything and hurt my mental health!

Hopefully once I get out of this rut, I’ll be back to posting more frequently. In the meantime, I think I will try slowly working on one post and not worry about getting it posted that day.

Anyway, as most of you guys know, my dog passed away recently. I haven’t talked about it since my last update post which was almost 3 weeks ago now. I think it’s part of the reason that I haven’t felt in the mood to update. I’ve been having a tough time with it. You just don’t get over a companion that’s been by your side for 18 years quickly. I think I’m getting a little better now. I still get really sad when I think about it but I’ve been trying to keep myself distracted, which I find helps the most.

My latest struggle is dealing with strep throat. It’s been soooo awful! I’ve had strep throat in the past but this is the worst case of it I have ever had! I had a high fever on Friday, Saturday and Sunday that had me teeth-chattering cold one minute and then sweating my butt off the next! My throat has been so sore (obviously) and it’s so gross to look at. Which is why I make a point to look at it constantly…it’s like a car crash! XD

I haven’t had a voice either! Today was actually my worst day for not having a voice – I could barely even whisper for the first half of the day! But it’s actually sounding a lot better now than it did the last few days so hopefully it’s even better by tomorrow when I have to go back to work!

Oh and another thing is I lost my wallet somehow at the beginning of the month! It was in the inside pocket of my coat while I was at work but when I put my coat on the next day at home, I realized it wasn’t there anymore. Somewhere between work and home, it went missing! So that’s been frustrating having no I.D. for many reasons but is especially stressing me out because I have a package waiting for me at Canada Post that I can only pick up with picture I.D. *sigh*

I know this hasn’t been a very positive post but it’s just reflecting what I’m feeling right now. I know it will pass but I did need to get some things off my chest! I think all the bad things happening lately have been a big reason why I don’t want to work on my blog as much. I honestly just want to curl up in bed and watch a movie and that’s been my safe haven at the moment.

I think we all probably go through this stage with our blogs when life is tough and we just have to do what feels right for ourselves whether that’s blogging more or blogging less. So I’m sorry I haven’t been around as much lately, and that includes visiting the blogs I love to read, as well. Who knows, maybe once this strep is gone, I’ll bounce back with some newfound inspiration!

Anyway, this has been painfully long! Much love to all of you guys!

P.s. I did find one picture to share even though it’s not from December:

  1. Oh no, sounds like you had a lot on your plate and strep throat is NO FUN! Well, so is losing your wallet. 😦 I hope you’ll get your blogging mojo back soon but please know that you’re not alone feeling this way. I am feeling really burnt out as well and will be taking a break from blogging end December and early January.

    1. I’m sorry to hear you are feeling burnt out as well! Blogging and all the things that go with it really is time consuming and it’s so hard to keep up especially when you have a job and other things going on in your life! Blogging feels like a full time job sometimes lol. I agree with taking a break when it’s needed! Mental health is number one!

  2. I’m so sorry you’ve had it rough the last couple of weeks! Strep throat sucks so much! I hope you feel loads better soon! I’m also sorry about your wallet! 😔 Don’t worry about taking a break! It’s more important for you to be well and to feel rested and motivated! 💕

  3. I don’t want this to sound harsh but you’ll never not miss your dog, you’ll never get over it, you’ll just learn to live with that and grow stronger. I don’t think the pain ever really lessens because if you loved them you loved them – so don’t feel bad about not ‘having moved on’ yet ❤

    1. Thanks girl! It’s not harsh! It’s all very true. Having lost pets in the past, I know how it goes, but it never makes it any easier! I lost a niece a couple years ago too and it’s the same thing. You don’t get over it but you just learn to live with it!

    1. It’s so tough! I admire those who can do it! But yeah, it’s too stressful for me to juggle everything at once. Definitely would like to get back to my 2 posts a week, maybe 3 if I somehow found the time, schedule haha.

  4. Hey girl, we all go through these low times. You will bounce back soon… looking to hear from in good heath and a great spirit. You have good writing this post to show everyday is not the same. Keep going… one step at a time. 😊

  5. Aww girl, don’t feel like you ever have to apologize for not feeling like blogging! Life happens. And blogging is a hobby for you, so you should never feel pressured to blog on a schedule otherwise it doesn’t start fun anymore. It’s okay to still feel sad about your dog. He was part of the family, and w don’t just get over the loss I’d a family remember that quickly.

The strep throat sounds awful! I’ve only had it once but I remember the pain being unbearable haha. Hope you feel better emotionally and physically soon 😘

    1. Yeah, I agree, especially because my blog is a hobby, I shouldn’t feel pressure. I think because of my anxiety, I put the pressure on myself and feel like I have to keep up. I’m trying to tell myself it’s ok to take a break!

Thanks so much for your kind words. ❤

  6. I hope your strep throat clears up soon, I’m sorry you’ve gotten sick! 😦
I totally agree that it’s no good for anyone’s mental health to be forcing blog posts and stressing out about it when you aren’t feeling it! I’ve pushed my content up to 5-6 posts a week for December because I’ve felt really creative lately, but I think I’ll give myself a full week off of posting in January. No sense burning out…

    1. Aw thanks, I’m finally starting to feel better now that the antibiotics are doing their trick!
Yeah, usually I love writing, I think I just have too much on my plate right now, especially with the busy holiday season!
I think when you’re feeling creative, you have the inspiration and motivation! I can totally see that in your posts! A little break is always good too! Give yourself some relaxing time before the stress even has time to start!!

    1. Yeah it has been a big hassle! I am starting to feel better although not 100% yet. Getting there!! It’s just unfortunate all these things happened within 3 weeks of each other. My cat also got sick which I forgot to mention lol. I’m sure things will look up soon, just got to get out of this rut! Thanks so much for the encouragement!

  9. I completely understand not feeling the desire to write blog posts! Blogging is a hobby so it should be enjoyable – write and post when you feel like it! 🙂
Definitely losing a dog and being sick are contributing factors to this “rut” – it’s good to slow down and pace yourself.
Oh boy, losing a wallet must be a drag. I’ve not had it happen to me *knock on wood* but I can imagine! Hope everything got replaced without too much fuss.
    Take care of yourself! ❤
