I deviated from my usual pattern of buying Sephora Favourites sets and picked up some of the holiday sets instead! I wanted to show you what comes in these sets and see if they are a good buy, as well as review each individual product.
Tarte Skin Win Hydrating Skincare Set
When I saw this pop up on the Sephora website, I was immediately interested. It comes with 3 of their skincare products, which I’ve tried all of before, and 1 lip product.
Below I will break down my thoughts on each product. All prices are in CAD.
Rainforest of the Sea Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer
This little guy is not my favourite moisturizer in the world but I do like it a lot. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it pills under makeup for me. That’s a big issue for me so I wouldn’t ever buy the full size. But I will enjoy this mini to use for no-makeup days!
It’s a gel moisturizer so it’s perfect for my oily skin. It provides me enough hydration and is so light on the skin! The scent reminds me of something ocean related. Maybe seaweed? I like it quite a bit.
Retail Value: $9.40 for 10 ml (full size is $47 for 50 ml)
I’ll admit, this is the main reason I wanted this set! I didn’t realize it at the time, but it actually makes up the majority of the value!
It’s been a long time since I last used this product but I remember loving it. I would use it mixed in with my moisturizer before applying makeup so that my foundation wouldn’t look so heavy on my skin. Now, I don’t really do that anymore but I’ll use this at night as my last step in my skincare routine.
I liked how it added moisture to my face without making me look greasy. It didn’t break me out and seemed to work well for my skin.
Retail Value: $19 for 15 ml (travel size)
Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist
This mist is so nice! It’s not something I would buy the full size of because for me, it leaves my skin a little too shiny but I love having the mini if only for the smell of it. It has such a unique scent for a skincare item. To me, it smells like Sprite or maybe Fresca! Somehow, this smells fizzy to me! XD
This can be used as a primer, setting spray or as a hydrating mist. I use it as a hydrating mist at night time or throughout the day on no-makeup days. It doesn’t leave the skin sticky which is nice. I’ll also use it kind of as a pre-primer for makeup. It doesn’t work for me as a setting spray because it doesn’t help keep my oil at bay like some setting sprays do.
Retail Value: $2.84 for 7 ml (full size is $30 for 73.93 ml)
Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in “Shell”
This product surprised me in multiple ways! First, I was surprised when I opened this set and this wasn’t a lipstick but actually a tinted lip balm! I guess I didn’t actually read the description and was going by the picture of the box. While I was excited to try a Tarte lipstick, the second surprise was how great this lip balm turned out to be!
This shade is called “Shell” but it’s not available for individual sale on the Sephora website and I don’t see it on Tarte’s website either. I love the way it looks and feels on my lips. The tint is described as a sheer mauve.
It glides on so smoothly and there’s really no trick to a good application. The only thing is I feel like occasionally I get tiny pieces of the balm coming off onto my lips but they are easily wiped away. It smells like peppermint and has a cooling effect on the lips, which I enjoy. I reapply it as often as I would a regular lip balm (which is often for me, maybe every 1 or 2 hours).
Retail Value: $8.21 for 1 g (full size is $23 for 2.8 g)
Total Retail Value: $39.45
I need to talk about this value. On the Sephora website where I bought this set, it doesn’t actually list a value. But the box does! It says $51!! That’s almost a $12 difference. This reminds me of the tarte “Make a Splash” trio set they put out for $12 with a supposed $28 value but when Cleia looked into it, she calculated less than the value she paid! It just goes to show you can’t really trust Sephora’s value claims. Luckily, this Tarte set’s value is over the amount I paid. I still don’t like how it’s so far off, though.
Aside from the value not being accurate, I am happy I purchased this set. All 4 items are ones I enjoy a lot and you know I just love my minis!

Fresh Pretty in Pink Lip Gift
This was another set that I knew I needed to buy when I saw it on Sephora’s webite! I’ve been keeping my eye on the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment sets for awhile now but they’re awfully expensive. The cheapest one was $53 for 6 which is a good deal in the long run but I didn’t really want to buy 6 at once!
That’s why this set was so perfect for me. It contains 3 of the lip treatments in mini sizes for $30! The value according to Sephora is $44. A full size is 4.3 g for $29 which makes the 2.2 g mini cost $14.84. For 3 of them, that brings us to $44.51! That makes Sephora’s value correct!
The 3 shades included are Rosé, Petal and Tulip. I absolutely love the package that they come in! It folds into a triangle shape and is held together magnetically. You can also easily disconnect the boxes because of the perforation. This makes this set perfect for gift giving (*cough* stocking stuffers *cough*).
Petal is described as a bold pink blossom tint. This is my favourite of the bunch! But I think it looks more of a nude shade on my lips than pink. It’s very pigmented for a tinted lip balm! It applies really well; not at all patchy.
Tulip is described as a sheer hot pink tint. I like this shade because wearing this shade in a lipstick would be out of my comfort zone. But as a tinted lip balm, I have more confidence to wear it. I find this one to apply slightly patchy but adding a second coat really evens it out. I also think it’s something not noticeable other than in closeup photos!
Note: I did not take a photo of Rosé swatched or on the lips. I already own this shade so I wanted to save this one for my giveaway (which is coming very soon since I am just about to hit 500 followers!!). I thought that I would be able to take pictures using the one I already own but I have apparently lost it. Hopefully since it is the most popular shade of this product, you’re already familiar enough with it. It’s described as a sheer rosy tint and I think that is accurate. I think it’s a little more sheer and less pigmented than the others, though, but not in a bad way.
Like the Tarte Lip Rescue, I reapply these ones as often as I would any other lip balm, so for me, every 1-2 hours. It really depends on how much talking or eating/drinking I’ve done in those hours. It’s also interesting to see the pigmentation difference between the two brands (Fresh and Tarte) in my swatch photo.
These smell amazing! For me, they smell like raspberry lemonade! I feel like these wouldn’t be the best option for chapped lips but they are in no way dehydrating. They are comfortable on my lips but I only have dry lips, not chapped. They feel so smooth on the lips and they’re a real treat to wear! They all contain SPF 15 also!
I have noticed that this set has gone in and out of stock so if it’s something you think you really want, I wouldn’t wait to buy it!

I love to share the freebies I get from my online orders! First, I used the code SKINFAB to get a 10 pack of the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. This sample is worth $6.17!
I also chose my 3 free samples. I picked out the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Cream, Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E AntiOxidant Protect + Repair Moisturizer and the Maison Margiela ’REPLICA’ Fantasies: Dancing On the Moon. But instead of the latter, they sent me Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume. I hate when they send me this brand because it doesn’t come with a spray nozzle so I will not use it.
I am happy with the products I got in this order! I think both sets are a good deal especially if you like mini sizes like I do. I hope you found this review of these sets and the individual products helpful! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and how they performed for you!
