Hello lovelies! Today I will be sharing with you my September Ipsy bag! This month’s theme is “Like a Boss.” It’s all about reaching your goals, and being the strongest, most fearless version of you. I thought that was such a fitting theme for me personally because lately, I have aimed for improvements regarding my blog.
I’ve been wanting to put more effort into my blog for some time but something came over me lately and I decided to actually do it. I put my fears aside and started working harder on many aspects. I designed my own logo. I got serious about taking beautiful photos. I created an Instagram and Twitter to promote my blog. I got accepted into the CBB Network.
These were all goals I’ve achieved lately! I’m proud that I didn’t let my doubts get in the way! But enough rambling, let’s get on to the Ipsy bag!
This month’s bag is so sleek and sophisticated. I love the wild crazy bags that we often get from Ipsy but it’s so refreshing to get just a classic black bag – I only wish it had a wristlet so you could use it as a clutch. I love that it has a studded-like detail that gives it a little edge. Overall, it’s very classy and I love it!
What is it? Ipsy Glam Bag
How much is it? $10 USD per month or $110 USD yearly

Now let’s take a look at what was inside!
Ciaté London Wonderwand Mascara
This is in the shade “Black Magic.” This mascara excites me because it has an hourglass shaped wand. It’s very similar to the Too Faced Better Than Sex wand. While I love the way my lashes look with the BTS, I really dislike the mascara itself for the simple fact that it smudges and flakes everywhere! This Ciaté mascara claims not to smudge. I may actually do a side by side comparison review for you guys!
Retail Value: $9.58 CAD for 3.5 ml (full size is $26 for 9.5 ml)
Pacifica Coconut Blush Duo
I saw people getting this blush duo in their bags last month and I thought the colours were so pretty. I wished I got it too so I was very pleased to see that I was getting it this month! Pacifica is known for being a vegan and cruelty free brand! The formulation is so velvety and infused with actual coconut. Unfortunately for me, they do not smell like coconut!
The shades are “Beaming,” a muted terracotta and “Tenderheart,” a soft mauve. I am already obsessed with both of these colours. If you read my August Favourites post, you’ll know I’ve been loving using my bronzer as a cheek colour also. “Beaming” gives a very similar effect! And “Tenderheart” is pigmented and has a lovely sheen. I have to remember to go in with a light hand!
The packaging has a mirror on the back which is a nice inclusion although it’s going to get very fingerprint-y! I think the gold flowers on the front of the case are also very pretty.
Retail Value: $9.99 USD / $12.16 CAD for 8 g (full size)
Hanalei Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser
Wait, what?! I’ve certainly never heard of a powder cleanser before! This could be the greatest creation ever or just plain weird! I haven’t given it a try yet so I’m not sure. Apparently all you do is pour a pea size amount of powder into your hands, add water and rub your hands together to create a foamy lather. It sounds simple enough but I am concerned with the packages we received for the samples because they are not resealable. If there’s more than a pea size amount in one packet, it creates an issue!
This is supposed to be a gentle way of exfoliating because it contains papaya enzymes, which are known to be great for sensitive skin. I really enjoy the Vasanti Brighten Up cleanser which also contains papaya enzymes so I feel like this Hanalei powder cleanser could end up being pretty great. In addition to exfoliating, it is supposed to brighten up your skin and won’t dehydrate it.
Retail Value: $1.43 USD / $1.74 CAD per 1 g packet x 5 (full size is $20 USD / $24.34 CAD for 14 1 g packets)
Smashbox Photo Finish Radiance Foundation Primer
I saw that a lot of people got this primer in their bag! Smashbox loves to give away primer samples, don’t they? I’m glad they are sending out a new version to try! While I’m a little skeptical about this product, I do hope I end up enjoying it.
This primer is a peach colour with flecks of shimmer made from micro-fine amber and bronze pearls! After you rub it into the skin, the colour sheers out a lot but the shimmer remains pretty visible. I’ve only tried it on my hand but after letting it sit for a minute, it’s very smooth to the touch! I feel like makeup would layer well on top of it.
One reason I was unsure about this primer is because when I hear words like radiance (glow-y, luminous, etc.), I can’t help but worry that it won’t work well with my oily skin. I want to prevent shininess – not emphasize it! But I won’t know until I try it! This primer contains Hyaluronic Acid and shea butter to keep your skin hydrated.
Retail Value: $11.83 CAD for 7.1 ml (full size is $50 for 30 ml)
Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop
I emailed Ipsy and asked to receive this in my September bag! When I see a skin care item on the list of products available to request, I usually jump on it!
Neogen is a Korean skincare brand. I thought this product looked pretty unique because it’s an oil and serum hybrid. It is a lot thicker looking than an oil or a serum and it is said to not leave a sticky or oily feeling behind on the skin. It strengthens damaged skin and fights signs of aging while also nourishing, hydrating and brightening the skin. This all sounds wonderful, right?! Can’t wait to give it a try.
Retail Value: $10.85 USD / $13.21 CAD for 15.5 ml (full size is $35 USD / $42.63 CAD for 50 ml)
Total Retail Value: $55.48 CAD
Final Thoughts? This isn’t one of the higher valued bags I’ve received from Ipsy but despite that, I am really loving this bag. I received products that are a great fit for my tastes. I find Ipsy has been nailing my bags lately. Being able to choose one product has definitely helped.
When I was thinking about which item excited me the most this month, I really couldn’t choose between the mascara, blush duo and Neogen! I’m so happy with all 3 of those products. I don’t dislike a single thing this month and I’d happily rate my bag a 5/5.
Did you get any of these same items in your Ipsy bag? If not, what did you get? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
