The One with the July 2017 Favourites

Hello beauties!

I’ve never actually done a favourites post before but I noticed I had a lot of products that I really enjoyed using last month that I wanted to share. I’m not sure if I’ll do this for every month but I might if I find I have enough items each month to make a post about.

Doctor D. Schwab Flawless Skin Fluid
I got this in my first ever FabFitFun box way back in the fall of 2015! I was excited to try it out until I put it on my face and it was shimmer city. My whole face was sparkling like Edward Cullen. I hated it, put it in my cupboard and didn’t think of it for a long time. When I was going through my stash last month, I pulled this out and thought I should just get rid of it! But then I had a great idea. I popped it on my shoulders and collar bone and WOW, it looked amazing! My skin looked so glow-y and it was just perfect for capturing that summer glow. Since then, I’ve done it almost every day and have used it to highlight my legs as well! I could also use it to highlight my face but I haven’t tried that yet.

Morphe G38 Mini Contour Brush
I don’t actually use this for contour but for concealing my blemishes! For the longest time, I was using a flat concealer brush and I was just never satisfied with the results. I get cystic acne and because of the bump it creates, it’s very hard to blend the concealer without wiping it right off of the tip. It dawned on me to try a denser brush so I tried this one from Morphe and while it is on the bigger side, it was still small enough to work! I will definitely search for a smaller brush in the same style at some point but until then, this has worked wonders for concealing my cystic acne. I’m so happy I can finally easily cover them up without having to spend so much time on one spot.

Pearlessence Rose Water Hydrating Face Mist
This was such a good find! I got it from Winners for $9.99 and I bought it hoping it was a dupe for the Herbivore mist. I don’t know if it works the same or not because I haven’t tried the Herbivore but I am loving this mist! I bought it mostly hoping that it would reduce my redness since rose water is known to do that, and it definitely worked. I get a lot of redness on the cheeks right beside the nose, my chin, and of course my acne spots. This helped reduce the redness a lot. It’s amazing what a difference a more even skin tone can make! As a bonus, this also added a touch of hydration to my skin. I especially noticed this after using cleansers that dried out my skin leaving me with that tight feeling. A few spritzes of this, and that tight feeling went away! It doesn’t seem like a product easily accessible in Canada so I will probably have to find a dupe when I run out. 😦

Pur-lisse BB Tinted Moist Cream SPF 30
This has to be my favourite BB cream I have ever used! I don’t think I’ve used foundation at all this month. This has been my go-to. It provides such a natural finish but surprisingly has a lot of coverage for a BB cream. The great thing about this is that it also works to protect your skin while providing even skin tone and good coverage. For example, it has an SPF of 30, it works to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and is packed with antioxidants. I wish all foundations had those added benefits.  🙂  Because it’s also a moisturizer, I don’t need to use a separate moisturizer underneath which is good for my oily skin.

Benefit Browvo! Conditioning Primer
This was a product that I got from Generation Beauty in June and I definitely didn’t expect much of it. Now I’m really happy that they gave me an extra one at the end of day two! I used this a lot in July and it really worked to help fill out my brows. I had some annoying spots in my left eyebrow that were too thin and this helped my eyebrow hair to grow back so much faster. I don’t like messy brows so I also liked using it because it kept my brows in place.

The Body Shop Coconut Body Milk
First of all, the scent is to die for! I love the smell of coconut in general but there’s nothing better than coconut scents in the summer time! I have had this for a long time but I always use it way more for the summer months. It’s super lightweight, non-greasy, and fast absorbing. I use this on my arms every day because my skin isn’t super dry there but I still like to moisturize. I always get compliments on the scent when I wear this, too! It’s also really convenient to apply because it comes in a spray bottle!

Roger & Gallet Beauty Vinegar
I have been using this so much since discovering it in last month’s Roger & Gallet Glam Sense box. My skin feels so smooth after using this because it exfoliates while it also evens out my skin tone and helps to reduce my redness. My pores look smaller and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry! It also doesn’t leave any sort of weird oily feeling afterwards. It was sold out on the Sephora website for a long time but now it’s back! It’s only $25 too which is good for a high end product!

Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation
I go without makeup all the time in my every day life despite my shitty skin. It’s mostly because I’m usually in such a rush that I don’t have time to sit down and cover it up. But this product has been wonderful for those days that I want my skin to look good without all the fuss of foundation. I only started using it this summer because despite it being in the shade “fair,” it was a little dark on me before I got a bit of a tan. It’s super easy to use. Because it’s a powder foundation, all you do is swirl your brush in it and layer it on your skin depending on how much coverage you want. It has colour corrector in it so it helps to hide any redness I have on my face! It literally takes 5 minutes or less! My only complaint is it does have a lot of kickback so you have to be careful in that regard.

So that’s all for my July favourites! This was a fun post to write so hopefully I’ll have enough new favourites for August to do another post, or maybe this will end up being bi-monthly for me. We will see!

Have you tried any of these products? What were your thoughts? Did you find any amazing products this summer that you can’t stop using?! Let me know so I can check them out!

  1. I laughed about the Dr. Shwab product making you look like Edward Cullen 😆 I’m glad you found a use for it after that!
Isn’t the body shop’s coconut smell the best!? I know I’ve said it before but I love it so much!
I saw that Roger & Gallet beauty vinegar on Sephora.com and was really skeptical just because it has the word vinegar in it xD I guess I shouldn’t judge a product by it’s name lol
