The One with “A Month of Shopping” May 2017

Hello beauties! Today’s post is to haul all of my purchases from May! I think I did a relatively good job at not going overboard like I did in April. But then again, I am a self-proclaimed shopaholic and it may still look like a lot to those who are better with saving their money!  XD But for me (aka the shopaholic), this is pretty good.

Staples In-Store

One of my first purchases this month was the new Fitbit Alta HR in the colour fuchsia and size small! I have been patiently waiting for it to go on sale and when it finally did, Mother’s Day was around the same time, so my boyfriend gave me $100 to pay half as my Mother’s Day gift. It cost $169.99 before taxes on sale down from $199.99!

It was on sale everywhere – Best Buy, Amazon, Sport Chek, etc. – but tracking down the fuchsia colour in size small was a difficult task! Everywhere in my city was sold out! I finally thought to check Staples and they had one left! Originally I wanted the coral colour but decided on the fuchsia because of it’s darker tone. I felt like it would go with more outfits. I didn’t want black because that was just a little too boring for me.  😛

Winners

So I got quite a few beauty items at Winners. I found some fantastic deals! It’s one of my favourite places to shop. Sometimes you can get really lucky with the deals on high end products!

Karuna Age-Defying+ and Exfoliating+ Face Masks
I got a pack of Karuna Hydrating+ face masks in my Spring FabFitFun and I fell in love with them. They felt very luxe on my face! I absolutely loved how they come with deep enough slits in the mask so you can overlap pieces to customize the fit.

I found these 4-packs of Karuna sheet masks for $12.99 each. That’s such a steal! At Sephora, they retail for $10 each. These packs of 4 from Winners breaks down to $3.25 per mask. I wanted to buy all the packs they had left but exerted some self control and bought one of the Age-Defying+ packs and one Exfoliating+ pack. I also lived vicariously through my best friend and convinced her to buy a mix pack.  XD

Check out the Age Defying+ mask here and Exfoliating+ mask here!

Skin Republic Neck + Décolletage Repair Sheet Mask
I was almost to the checkout when this caught my eye! At $2.99, I had to at least try it! I have been really loving the Skin Republic sheet masks for the face so hopefully this neck and chest one is as high quality. I’ve never used a sheet mask like this before but it certainly looks interesting! It’s also a really good deal because they cost $9 on the Skin Republic website!

Pearlessence Rose Water Hydrating Face Mist
When I saw this at Winners, I immediately wondered if this could be a dupe for the Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist. The two items do share some of the same ingredients but they’re not the same. However, for $9.99, I thought it was worth a shot.

There were also Coconut Water and Cucumber Water versions from Pearlessence. I was tempted to buy one of each but I went with the Rose Water because I know rose water is good for reducing redness in the face.

So far, I’ve been loving this mist! Not only has it done a fantastic job of reducing my redness but it is also very soothing on my pimples. I feel like it helps reduce the swelling. And it’s extremely hydrating. I notice a big difference in my makeup since using this!

This seems to be a hard to get product so that is disappointing. Anyone have any information on the company Pearlessence?

Batiste Dry Shampoo
Usually when I head to Winners, it’s to pick up a new bottle of the Batiste dry shampoo. It’s only $6.99 which is even cheaper than the sale prices at the drug store. I always choose the tropical scent because hello, coconut. Sometimes they don’t have it and then I cry a little but the other scents are pretty good, too.

Julep.com

I’m pretty much always tempted by Julep’s deals on their website. But there was one deal in particular I couldn’t pass up! I bought their new “Feelin’ Floral Nail Caddy” which came with 3 free Julep polishes of my choice. It cost $30 USD which is the regular price of the caddy. The Maven price is $24 USD. It holds up to 48 polishes and there are spaces for my nail tools, as well. It will be nice to have well designed storage for my Julep polishes now!

The 3 polishes that I chose are Aubrey which is a “rosewood shimmer,” Brooklyn which is a “ruby red microglitter,” and Ebony, which is a “graphite holographic.”

Check out the floral caddy here, Aubrey here, Brooklyn here, and Ebony here!

Facebook Group Shopping

Anyone else post in buy/sell/trade groups on Facebook? I love interacting in some Canadian Ipsy/Topbox groups. I don’t buy too often because there is an element of risk involved when purchasing anything from Facebook. But once in awhile, I do.

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum
I’ve talked about this serum a lot on my blog. I feel like it follows through on everything it says it’s supposed to do. I’ve never found an eye serum that I like better. Unfortunately, it’s $65 USD, which as of today is $87.54 in Canadian dollars.

Lucky for me, it was in a recent Boxycharm, or maybe Glossybox. I always get those two mixed up. But anyway, someone was selling it for $14 CAD shipped. I have a little stash going of this serum thanks to people selling it from their Boxycharm subscription. Or Glossybox…

Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen
You may remember in my May Ipsy unboxing, I got this same eyeliner but in black. I thought it was a great eyeliner but I currently have a gazillion black liners so I really didn’t need another one. I was hoping for this gorgeous shade called “OpalOvercoat.” I bought it off a facebook group for $7 shipped. And it really is as pretty as I was expecting. I bought it with use on my lower lash in mind and it’s perfect!

Amazon/Glam Sense

This was a unique purchase because it was through the Glam Sense program from Topbox but I had to order the polishes myself using a gift card provided to me. This was neat because I was therefore able to choose the exact colour of polish I wanted to review!

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish
I chose a beautiful light purple colour called “Dress Call.” I really liked this polish. I had it on for 8 days straight – without a top coat – before finally getting my first mild chip. I was super impressed with it’s staying power.

Essie Treat Love and Colour Strengthener
I only used this the one time, in conjunction with the gel polish, so I don’t really know if it works for strengthening nails. It was a good base coat, though. By itself, it was kind of neat because it had the most subtle holographic shimmer to it. I only noticed it in the sunlight but I thought that was pretty cool.

Jamberry

For those that don’t know, Jamberry is a company similar to Lularoe or It Works, where you sell products to people you know and get a commission on it. My sister tried Jamberry from a friend last year and she became so obsessed that she became a consultant! So once in awhile, I order some new Jams!

This one is new and is from their new Zodiac collection. I’m a Scorpio so of course that is the one I ordered. It will pair well with my Julep Scorpio polish! The colours are very similar! If you participate in facebook games in my sister’s group, sometimes you can win prizes or discounts. I won a discount and only paid $11 for this instead of $23!

FREE SAMPLES

Real quick, my free samples this month include John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo, Conditioner, and In-Shower Treatment. And I got some wildflower seeds from Buzzing Gardens!

So that is everything from my May shopping! How do you think I did? Pretty good, right? I feel like this is an acceptable amount to spend.  XD I also spent money on flowers for my balcony. I debated taking pictures of those but in the end, I didn’t.

Stay beautiful, my loves!

xoxo, Tigritsa

  1. Do you think you’d be able to let me know the Canadian groups you’re in for swaps?! I’m in an American one and always get so sad because it’s not worth it to swap/buy from them 😭
