Just like last year, Topbox has again put out a “Spring Favourites” box curated by YouTuber RachhLoves. Last year’s box was really good but this one is fantastic! I actually started watching her videos the past few months and I love her. She’s funny and real, and of course, I love finding Canadian YouTubers. But I digress!
This box costs $19 CAD and is available from Topbox here. You can customize 3 out of 5 of your items, which is great, because then the box suits each individual person!
Below we will take a look at what I chose and also, what your other options were!
CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara
This comes in the shade “860 Very Black” and it claims to give up to 10x volume and length. We were able to choose between 4 CoverGirl mascaras and my choice was pretty simple. I already own unopened packs of the Clump Crusher and the Full Lash Bloom, so it brought my choice down to the Super Sizer and the Fusion. I’m mostly into lengthening over volume if I’m forced to choose so the Fusion seemed like a better choice for me.
Retail Value: $8.47 CAD (full size)
First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask
This is a 10 minute mask that helps to nourish, calm, firm, plump, and refine. It’s interesting to note that it says fragrance free but all I can smell is cucumber! It’s a gel like consistency that goes on very thin. It left my skin feeling super smooth, soft, and plump!
Retail Value: $9.40 CAD for 9.6 g (full size is $47 for 50 ml)
Essie Nail Polish
I chose the shade “Where’s My Chauffeur” which goes on the nails a lot bluer than it looks in the picture. I chose this one because I don’t have anything quite like it, and I also like that it’s almost a Tiffany blue. The other shades you could choose from are “Turquoise & Caicos,” “Excuse Me, Sur,” “B’aha Moment,” and “Backseat Besties.” I haven’t strayed too far from Julep polishes lately because they seem to last the longest on my nails without chipping, plus they’re 5-free. Essie is only 3-free and chip a lot faster for me, but I put this colour on my toes – so I know it will last forever!
Retail Value: $8.96 CAD (full size)
Smashbox Cover Shot Duo
These two shades are from the “Golden Hour” version of the Cover Shot palettes from Smashbox. The coral colour is called “Turned On” and the brown colour is “Psyched.” I have to say these shades are ten times prettier in person than pictures! The picture that Topbox posted did not do these shadows justice so I was very surprised when I opened the package to see such beautiful shimmery shadows. They are pigmented, blend nicely and I didn’t experience any fallout! It’s interesting also that the little palette had a mirror inside!
Retail Value: $7.78 CAD for .05 oz (full size palette is $35 for 0.27 oz)
Burt’s Bees Gloss Lip Crayon
This was the last item that we could customize. I chose a nude shade called “Outback Oasis.” The other shades you could choose are “Tahitian Sunset,” “Pacific Coast,” “Bordeaux Vines,” “Pink Lagoon,” and “Santorini Sunrise.” Before trying it on, I had read a review that they are very soft and the tip breaks easily, so I made sure to use a light hand when applying and did not have any issues. Outback Oasis is such a perfect colour for me since I’m so shy with lip colours. I like the formula a lot too. It feels comfortable on the lips and gives a bit of shine but not as much as a gloss.
Retail Value: $9.97 CAD (full size)
Total Retail Value: $44.58 CAD
Final Thoughts? So far, I am loving all of these products! The only one I haven’t tried is the mascara because I am keeping that baby sealed until I’m ready to use it! I think these were excellent choices to include in a Spring box. I’m really blown away by the Smashbox shadows. I honestly didn’t expect much from the original photo I saw! And I just love that there is something here for everyone. It’s so nice to be able to customize shades and whatnot. That way, everyone is happy!
