The One with the Ipsy April 2017 Glam Bag

I am so behind on my unboxings this month! Aside from being busy with work, I’ve been enjoying the weather and have been out for walks every day all day long. My boyfriend, son, and I have been playing Pokémon Go so much.  XD By the time we get home, it’s been full out veg mode. I’m actually looking forward to these days of rain because it will give me a little break from walking and opportunity to write my posts!

This month’s Ipsy bag is in the design of a ticket stub. I can’t decide if I like it or not. What do you guys think? On one hand, I think it’s a cute idea but on the other, I find it a little tacky. So I’m on the fence about the bag!

What is it? Ipsy Glam Bag
How much is it? $10 USD per month or $110 USD yearly
Ships to? Canada & US
Shipping costs? $4.95 USD per month; Free for US
What’s inside? 5 deluxe sample or full size beauty products, plus a makeup bag

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow & Highlighter
This is a multi-purpose item that can be used as an eyeshadow or a highlighter. It’s not overly pigmented but I think I actually prefer it that way so I have a more subtle option of highlighter. I’m not sure if I’d use it as a shadow since the pigmentation is lacking. It might be buildable though (I just haven’t tried that yet). The neat thing about this product is that it’s brand new and hasn’t been released yet! So Ipsy subscribers are the first to try it out!
Retail Value: $2.96 CAD for 0.7 g (full size is $33.86 for 8 g)

EM Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner Brush Tip
Anyone else fall in love with watching makeup tutorials thanks to Michelle Phan? That must have been 10 years ago! I have yet to try anything from her cosmetic line so it’s nice to receive something of hers. My only issue is that I have been getting so many liquid liners lately. I really don’t know how I’m supposed to get through them all before they dry up! This one, interestingly, has a brush tip instead of a felt tip. I really don’t even know what a brush tip liner looks like or how it performs versus a felt tip so I’m definitely curious about that!
Retail Value: $20.32 CAD for 0.55 ml (full size)

Theorie Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum
This is a hair serum that moisturizes, smooths, repairs and protects. I’m in a desperate need for a cut so serums have been a staple in my hair routine lately!! I know I will definitely use this at some point, but I do have a huge collection of hair serums and oils that I need to get through first.
Retail Value: $3.52 CAD for 10 ml (full size is $35.23 for 100 ml)

Adesse Cupuaçu Butter Lip Balm
I have to admit I was really hoping to get the Tony Moly Liptone this month! But this is the next best thing. It’s my favourite item I received in this bag! It’s ginger-mint scented and although it’s pink, there is no colour when you put it on your lips. I have to have lip balm on at all times and I love trying new ones! So far, I’m loving this one! This company is vegan and cruelty-free which is a plus but the price is outrageous. I could never pay that much for a lip balm.
Retail Value: $32.52 CAD for 3 g (full size)

Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660
I have such a nice collection of Luxie brushes thanks to Ipsy and various sub boxes. It’s so pretty and soft! My only concern with this brush is I’m not sure if I’ll use it. I’m not a big fan of using this style of brush for my foundation. It’s a little confusing though because this is not like a typically flat foundation brush. It’s much fluffier. I’m definitely going to try it out and see how it performs!
Retail Value: $31.07 CAD (full size)

Total Retail Value: $90.39 CAD

Final Thoughts? I have to admit that I was not that excited about my bag this month. Writing this post made me realize that it has more to do with the fact that I already own too many similar items than me not liking the individual items. If I had a bare collection, I would be delighted to receive this bag! Maybe I should take a break from sub boxes… like that will ever happen… 😛 Addicted!

Have an amazing day, loves!

  1. So I got that eyeliner and LOVED it! Funny it sounds like you have been having the problem with eyeliners that I am having with brushes… I got so darn many of them that my drawers was just overflowing with them! I went on and changed my preferences to get less brushes because though they are AWESOME I truly had too many.

  2. You got a few different products then I did! I think your box is cool actually.
I have yet to get any brushes from Luxie and I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy for 2 years! I agree, it looks a little to fluffy to use as foundation, unless you use maybe powder foundation? I’m sure it could work as a blush brush too.

That em cosmetics liner sounds nice! I got the Jessie’s Girl one which is a traditional felt tip but I actually love brush tips.

    1. I have 5 Luxie brushes just from Ipsy now! I think it’s because I always rate them high when reviewing!

I had no idea a brush tip was a thing! I think I assumed all those liquid pens were felt tip. I pulled out my KVD and my Stila to compare and couldn’t believe they had different tips when I looked super closely. XD

  3. Is it just me or is that Elizabeth Mott highlighter tiny!? It looks so small!
I’m really excited about em’s new eyeliners and lipsticks, I haven’t bought any yet but I was kind of hoping for that eyeliner when I saw it as a spoiler (even though I have waay to many unopened eyeliners in my stash). I’m curious about the brush tip, I’ve never used one like that before!

The Tony Moly Liptone is nice, but the Adesse lip balm looks just as good! I can’t believe it’s $32 though!! That’s crazy!
I didn’t realize that the Luxie brush isn’t flat :S I’ve read from a few other subscribers that it works really well, I hope it works out for you!

    1. The highlighter is super tiny! It’s like those bronzer samples lol

I guess the brush tip is just like the Kat Von D Tattoo liner. I didn’t realize that so I guess I have used a brush tip before! I honestly didn’t notice a difference between that one and Stila which is a felt tip.

      1. I really just want normal sized samples!! Luckily my bronzer sample this month was large enough for my brush, these tiny samples are so frustrating!

I’ve never actually tried Kat von D liners, but a lot of bloggers I read seem to swear by them so brush tip must not be that hard to use! I hope it works out for you =)
