The One with the Vichy ChickAdvisor Box

Back in July, I received the Vichy Normaderm Acne Care line from ChickAdvisor. For those unfamiliar with ChickAdvisor, I highly recommend you create an account! If you are chosen to receive a box, you will get it for free and all you have to do is review it! Now, this particular campaign is long done but I’ve been meaning to do a review on these products now that I’ve almost used them all up.

I was sent a 3 piece set – Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel, Purifying Pore-Tightening Lotion, and Corrective Anti Acne Treatment 24h Hydrating Lotion. The packaging for all 3 items is really nice and practical!

Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel
I have actually used this cleanser once before approximately 8 or 9 years ago when I was desperate to find my holy grail face wash to rid my face of it’s acne. At the time, it was a really expensive purchase for me, and unfortunately didn’t help my acne any better than Garnier or Neutrogena.

I didn’t have high hopes for it but I can say this time around, it has worked much better for me. My skin is a lot better now so that helps, and I imagine they did a rework of the formula, too. I actually went an entire month without getting any breakouts at all but sadly, the streak ended after that. It’s not a solution for cystic acne! If you’re prone to cystic acne, let me know your secrets because I haven’t found anything to prevent those!

So while I can’t say this cleanser is great for cystic acne, I do think it is great for regular breakouts. I loved that my skin didn’t feel tight or dry after using it, and it helped a lot with keeping oily skin at bay.
Retail Value: $19.95

Normaderm Purifying Pore-Tightening Lotion
This is a really great toner for acne. The reason I loved it so much is because I could feel it working. It left a tingling feeling on my pimples but didn’t irritate them or any other part of my skin.

It does leave a tight feeling because it works to tighten your pores. It’s not the most nice feeling but it did not dry my skin out. As long as you’re following up with moisturizer, there shouldn’t be an issue there! I don’t have large pores so I can’t vouch if it will help minimize their appearance. I can, however, vouch that this toner helps keep oil production under control!
Retail Value: $19.95

Normaderm Corrective Anti Acne Treatment 24H Hydrating Lotion
I just want to start by saying I absolutely hate when products have super long names. I mean, honestly, just call it “Anti Acne Hydrating Lotion.”  XD Anyway, this was the product I was most curious to try because it’s the first of it’s kind that I’ve ever used. It’s almost like an oxymoron! As all acne sufferers are aware, anti-acne treatments dry out the skin yet this product is also claiming to hydrate!

This does help a lot with regular breakouts (cystic acne – not so much) and it doesn’t dry out the skin. I don’t think it is as hydrating as it claims it is but for me, I didn’t have high expectations there. I can say that it is hydrating for an anti-acne treatment.

One thing I love about this lotion is that it keeps my face looking matte for hours. I like to include oils and serums in my skincare and some of them tend to leave my face a little greasy looking, so this is the perfect product to counteract the oil. It leaves my skin looking much smoother, too!

There’s so many great things about this product but there is one huge flaw that has me sitting on the fence about purchasing. Because I layer my skincare, this lotion causes so much pilling! It drives me crazy!! I hate that I can’t use it under makeup. So other than the pilling, I think this is a really great and innovative product!
Retail Value: $29.95

Final Thoughts? I was really happy to be chosen for this box. I’m pretty sure I would purchase the cleanser and toner but only when it goes on sale. I’ve bought cheaper products before that work as good so I wouldn’t want to pay the full 20 bucks. The lotion I am just not sure. I love it but I hate that it pills. I’ll have to think about purchasing it.

Did you get a Vichy box from ChickAdvisor? Tell me your thoughts or link me to your review!
